Responsibilities

The GNC System Architecture group at Draper is seeking a junior-level Model-Based Systems Engineer for GNC Systems with SysML modeling experience to define and develop guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems for mission domains such as: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. This role will involve engagement with multi-disciplinary teams innovating new GNC system solutions over the full system development lifecycle from trade studies to concept and architecture design, to integration, to testing and operation.

Responsibilities of this position:
  • Translate customer needs into system use cases, requirements, architecture, design, and performance modeling
  • Work with subject-matter experts across engineering teams to develop and model the system design using SysML
  • Build a culture of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) on Draper programs by contributing to best practices and standards
  • Develop systems engineering/design artifacts and documentation

A successful candidate will be motivated to build deeper expertise in both the core mission domain and underlying GNC technology. This position will provide exposure to a wide range of advanced technologies (including inertial sensors, imagers, precision electronics, and advanced algorithms) as well as provide growth opportunities in the development of capabilities to address challenges in national security.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (g. MagicDraw) and languages (e.g. SysML)
  • Ability to support a full range of systems engineering activities for multiple programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Any of the following additional qualifications are highly desirable:
  • Internship or project experience in systems engineering for integrated hardware/software systems
  • Experience in modeling of dynamical systems and simulation-based performance analysis
  • Active security clearance
