Reporting to the Head of Claims Shared Services, Group Benefits, the Head of Claims Best Practices, Group Benefits is responsible for ensuring all compliance changes, process changes and process improvements are documented and implemented across all products. This leader will manage best practices across Absence, LTD and Life products and drive towards ensuring all claims are handled in a consistent, flexible and fair manner. This leader will ensure understanding of all policy contracts and will keep current with all state regulatory changes in the market. This individual will work with Disability Product, Disability Claims, Legal and Compliance to partner on building competitive and market leading policies and processes that will ensure compliance standards are met, while also offering competitive products, improving claims outcomes and driving profitable growth. This leader will partner with Training to support the development and implementation of new policies and procedures across Claims.
The Head of Claims Best Practices, Group Benefits will be responsible for leading a team within the organization. This leader will serve as a primary resource and provide direction to the organization by setting objectives, communicating progress, and holding the staff accountable for department goals and objectives. This leader is responsible for assisting staff with career development and career progression, along with encouraging candor and challenging the status quo to continuously improve the way we work. This leader partners with internal cross functional stakeholders to drive the department’s focus while also ensuring the delivery of the broader Claims organization’s strategy and goals.
You will
  • Lead team of Claim Best Practice Leaders.
  • Develops and implements all Disability Claim best practices, policies and procedures.
  • Provide thought leadership and direction on claims disability management.
  • Ensures consistent quality of care standards for Guardian consistent with policy language, adherence to state specific regulatory requirements that meet claim quality standards.
  • Promotes a culture of constant growth, learning and improvement.
  • Assists in projects as assigned, providing a best practice perspective to areas such as product development, processes, and standards.
You have
  • Minimum of 5 years of disability claims experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Previous leadership experience involving decision making, trouble shooting, staff development, and related skills and abilities.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be analytical and detailed oriented, with solid organizational skills.
  • Must be goal and deadline oriented.
  • Will require travel, as necessary.

Salary Range
$93,370.00 - $173,390.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
