The Fraud Investigator position sits within an up and coming department, where you are tasked with uncovering the truth and resolving fraud crimes. What you will do:
The Fraud Investigator is responsible for applying fact-finding methods to investigate potentially fraudulent activity. The ideal candidate will seek to achieve the optimal balance between customer experience and fraud prevention through interaction with callers and maintain that balance as the business grows and fraud trends evolve. Responsible for performing investigative research and analysis of data and, through interaction with callers, identifying cases of potential account takeover, ID Theft, and abuse.
This role is performed in an inbound call center style environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leverage appropriate resources to support the identification and initiation of fraud or abuse investigations, and ensure relevant information is appropriately collected, analyzed, and documented
- Request additional caller documentation when required for investigation
- Complete investigation utilizing fraud detection and risk mitigation methodologies including skip tracing and identity verification tools
- Document findings and provide communication back to the caller
- Evaluate, process, and document identity theft, customer validation claims, and account takeovers
- Collect, research, and validate data against relevant guidelines
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of cable or telecom operations, fraud investigation, and/or detection and analysis, and laws/regulations related to fraud and general risk management
- Critical Thinking skills, ability to make decisions and communicate them despite negative reactions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Ability to remain empathetic while communicating risk decisions, ability to de-escalate calls when communicating difficult messages
- Basic data analysis skills
- Skip Tracing (preferred)
Schedule:
Training: 3 weeks, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (M-F)
*Regular schedule starts immediately after first two weeks of training*
Current Work Hours:
(Tues – Sat 1 pm to 10 pm) OR (Sun – Thurs 1 pm to 10 pm) OR (4-10 hour shifts, multiple options)
Saturday and Sunday shifts 12-9pm*
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Psychology is a plus*
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
