Youth Litter Patrol Job at Boys & Girls Clubs - Alaska
SUMMARY: Eagle River Boys & Girls Club is seeking teens between the ages of 14-18 to pick up trash and recyclables from designated public areas in Eagle River and Chugiak.

- Ensure proper administrative, staff and board, infrastructure/internal operations are in place to support BGC Alaska’s growth and development.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Pick up trash within designated areas under supervision of adult YLP Leader
- Separate recyclable materials from general refuse
- Be able to commit to 15 hours per week for 11 weeks (June – August)
- Perform duties of trash/recyclables collection in a safe manner
- Participate in Job Ready and Money Matters programming weekly
- Complete YLP safety orientation and all other required trainings
- Observe and follow all Boys & Girls Clubs policies and procedures
- Report injuries and incidents to supervisor immediately
- Maintain close, daily communication with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. This includes but is not limited to Gloves, Safety Vest and appropriate footwear
- Accurately record hours worked and complete timesheets by required payroll deadline
- Other related duties as assigned
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

- Must obtain Alaska Department of Labor Work Permit
- Upon hire, employee will become Boys & Girls Club member
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Be between the ages of 14-18 years of age
- Willingness to learn and follow direction
- Must be dependable
- Ability to maintain first aid and CPR certification
- Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check
- Must participate in Direct Deposit

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, talk, see and hear. This position involves frequent repetitive motion and reaching with hands and arms.
