MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of MACtown, Inc. is “Furthering the Independence of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities” since 1962.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Board members have the potential to serve in a number of areas, as well as to carve out new initiatives, based on their interests, availability, and expertise. Current areas of service include:

• to develop and grow the organization
• to assist with the governance of the organization
• to assist and contribute to the organizations fundraising efforts
• to advocate and educate the public about the organization
• to assist the organization in its outreach efforts in public policy change

Serving as a MACTown Board member will provide numerous opportunities to develop your leadership skills while contributing to the advancement and improvement in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the State of Florida and across the United States.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated commitment to the organization
• Preferred: Ten years of business experience or relevant professional/postgraduate experience.
• Potential Board member will be required to undergo a level 2 background check.

MEMBERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

• Board members are expected to participate in board member activities such as monthly conference calls, monthly and/or quarterly Board of Director Meetings via zoom, in person Annual Board of Director Meeting and Board Planning session.
• Board members should expect to serve a minimum of two to five hours monthly to focus on MACTown board-related activities; this may vary based on focus areas and time of the year.

TIME COMMITMENT

• Few hours a month
