About this role

Teaching Assistants ("TAs") play a key role in driving elements of Correlation One's training programs. TAs work with Correlation One's instructors, operations team, & curriculum team to drive exceptional learning outcomes for the Fellows who participate in our programs ("Fellows" is how we refer to the students in our programs).

The ideal candidate will be an excellent educator with superior communication skills and a good sense on how to provide a positive Fellow experience. This person is a quick learner, diligent with their work, and empathetic. Your driving motivation is helping Fellows learn the material taught during the program so that they can use their new knowledge & skills in the real world.

Correlation One's training programs are best-in-class, with teaching staff hailing from some of the world's best institutions. Our programs are unique because we build them for practical impact - our training is oriented to real outcomes, using hands-on training content and the case method. We go beyond theory and focus on preparing Fellows for jobs.

The majority of our programs are free for Fellows, sponsored by our private and public sector partners. This model draws in learners who are both extremely talented and passionate to improve. We're passionate about our mission to make the future of data equitable to currently underrepresented groups through training.

Our programs are held virtually and synchronously in our "live online" format.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the instruction of a program by supporting a small cohort of students, typically consisting of 20-30 Fellows. This principally includes:
    • Supporting Fellows' learning by answering questions and holding review sessions on key concepts related to the core curriculum (depending on the program, these can span from advanced Excel to concepts in Machine Learning).
    • Advise Fellow teams (4-7 Fellows) on a capstone project, including how to thoughtfully scope the project, analyze data, and present the outcomes
  • Collaborate with Correlation One operations personnel to perform class duties well and stay on schedule
  • Attend all live classes (typically 12-15 weeks, usually on Saturdays)
  • Optional: Correlation One usually offers additional earning opportunities for ad-hoc projects both related to and unrelated to the program TAs participate in. These opportunities can include curriculum development, teaching lectures, and assisting with program admissions

Some Skills We Consider Critical to the Role:

  • An excellent educator with a passion for teaching and helping others
  • Familiarity with to the topics taught in the program. This includes degree in a related field and / or industry experience in a related role. Depending on the program, these can span from advanced Excel to concepts in Machine Learning.
  • Outstanding people management skills and communication
