You will teach students in our Deafblind Program skills to meet their individual objectives and report progress on these objectives as prescribed by the program. You will assist in providing a safe and secure environment for students, on and off-campus, by applying good judgment and effective problem-solving skills. Consulting with other program staff and clinicians, you will prepare goals, objectives and specific lesson plans to meet the individual needs of each student.

The STEM teaching assistant works directly with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics teachers within the Secondary program to support student and teacher daily needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in organizing, overseeing, and maintaining the classroom environment
• Producing large print and raised print materials
• Learning new programs to assist with Math accessibility
• Assist students in classroom activities
• Order classroom materials using Perkins protocols
• Transfer of students when needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Coverage and implementation of substitute plans when teachers are absent

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree Required

• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities
• Demonstrate professionalism and strong work ethic
• Good attendance
• Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and copiers
• Able to follow multi-step directions and work independently to complete tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
