In this exciting role as a Senior Biomedical Engineer, you will have the exciting responsibility to research and develop future generations of glucose sensors and insulin delivery products for people with diabetes. As a member of the Research & Technology team within R&D, we focus on early stage product development giving you a significant ability to influence technology development and manufacturing processes in new products.
You will be challenged to think outside of the box to solve complex problems, prototype novel designs and experiment with concepts as we innovate diabetes management. You will be responsible for the research, design and process characterization of electrochemical sensors and drug delivery mechanisms.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Research technology landscapes for biosensor and drug delivery technologies and evaluate for viability in future products.

Design experiments and conduct research on device designs and materials to optimize performance in in-vitro and in-vivo environments.

Design, test and implement new processes for fabrication of biosensors and assembly of medical devices.

Present technical findings and project status to cross functional teams and management through team meetings, design reviews, presentations and other means of communication.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and evaluate emerging technologies and apply knowledge to prototyping products.

Maintain current awareness of literature and emerging approaches and methods in diabetes therapy.

Work with technicians to prototype device concepts

Work in cleanrooms for laboratory experimentation and manufacturing

Designs, develops and provides safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment.

Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.

Design studies and conduct research on enzyme reactions and the effects of organic compounds on biological processes.

Participate in activities such as compound screening and compound optimization programs, and developing and running enzyme assays.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in Engineering or other science related discipline and 4+ years of engineering, research, or medical device experience.
OR
Masters degree in Engineering or other science related discipline and 2+ years of engineering, research, or medical device experience.
Nice to Have

Experience working in both early-stage and established research and development projects.

Experience in industry and/or academia in the field of biosensors, biomaterials, drug delivery or related areas.

Basic skills with Matlab to perform data analysis

Self-motivated to seek out new ways to solve problems.

Ability to rapidly iterate concepts and understands the value of failures in the design process.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
