Position Summary:
Guardian Life is currently seeking an Observability Engineer to be part of observability engineering team. The team uses various tools and support observability and monitoring function in the organization.
You will:
Serve as Splunk SME.
Be responsible for Administration and support for Splunk Enterprise hybrid environment with cloud-SaaS and on-prem footprint.
Manage Splunk Configuration files using Linux CLI and windows (adding/creating new indexes, managing retention polices/size, adding new data etc.).
Onboard data sources through various methods (UF, HF, Syslog, Splunk TA, HEC, FTP(S), CSV, DB Connect, etc.) and resolve any parsing errors.
Manage Splunk periodic maintenance activities, deployment and upgrades as needed.
Be responsible for parsing fields from unstructured log, creating regex to perform field extractions at search time.
Development of SPL queries to create dashboards, scheduled searches, rules, reports, and alerts. Coach other teams/users to use best-practices and optimal searches.
Provide support of other tools, Appdynamics and Zenoss.

You have:
Understanding of Splunk Enterprise Security.
Have effective communication skills (written and oral), adaptability, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, time management, ability to work effectively in stressful situation, customer focused, detail oriented and a team-player.
Splunk certifications, user, power user and admin.
Python, Unix shell and windows PowerShell scripting experience.
Splunk premium apps like Splunk ITSI and Enterprise Security.
Experience using DevOps tools like git, puppet, Jenkins and terraform. Update the config/code in git repo.
Splunk architecture knowledge to enhance and improve the Splunk deployment.
Splunk Machine Learning practices and using them in dashboards and reports.
Using anomaly detection, standard deviation, and other practices to identify abnormal activities.
Install, test, and deploy monitoring solutions with Splunk services.
Understanding of enterprise monitoring concepts and tools like AppDynamics and Zenoss.
Skills required:
Administration and support for Splunk Cloud/Splunk Enterprise environment with cloud-SaaS and on-prem footprint.
Administration of Splunk hybrid Search Head clusters
Onboard data sources through various methods (UF, HF, Syslog, Splunk TA, HEC, FTP(S), CSV, DB Connect, etc.) and resolve any parsing errors.
Manage Splunk periodic maintenance activities, deployment and upgrades as needed.
Should have good understanding of Splunk Configuration files and managing those using Linux CLI and windows, adding/creating new indexes, managing retention polices/size, adding new data-sources etc.
Skillful at parsing fields from unstructured logs. Creating regex to perform field extractions at search time.
Maintain Data Models and base save searches.
Be able to collaborate with different teams to understand logging, dashboarding and reporting requirements and come up with solution.
Development of SPL queries to create dashboards, scheduled searches, rules, reports, and alerts. Coach other teams/users to use best-practices and optimal searches.
Managing knowledge Objects, users, and roles.
Experience working with the Splunk Common Information Model
Should be able to work on Linux and Windows Splunk servers with ease and use scripts to help automate
Understanding of Splunk Enterprise Security.
Should be able to comprehend and understand a problem and assist in developing potential corrective actions.
Have effective communication skills (written and oral), adaptability, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, time management, ability to work effectively in stressful situation, customer focused, detail oriented and a team-player.

The primary location for this position is Bethlehem, PA, Holmdel, NJ, New York, NY or Stamford, CT, with a work arrangement of at home.

Salary Range
$91,380.00 - $169,690.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
