Sous Chef Job at Providence Staffing LLC
Providence Staffing’s Restaurant client is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to be second-in-command to their Executive Chef in Auburn, AL. The Sous Chef is responsible for the day-to-day culinary operations in the kitchen.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
· Minimum 2-5 years cooking experience in a fine dining environment and experience in a culinary leadership role preferred.
· Above average communication skills needed to communicate effectively and efficiently with managers, kitchen and dining room employees and guests.
· ServeSafe or other approved food handling certification preferred.
· Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time, and working long hours in hot conditions.
· Must have experience calculating figures and amounts and performing mathematical functions to meet the business needs.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Exceptional time management skills; the Sous Chef must estimate the necessary time for culinary tasks as well as management duties.
· Management of finances and resources; the Sous Chef must properly control the available produce, staff and other assets to coincide with forecasts and budgets pertaining to aspects he Sous Chef must have basic knowledge of e-mail, Google Drive operations, Excel, Word Input kitchen inventory system, 7 Shifts scheduling platform, Toast operation systems. Draft and type muns in shared Canva apps, etc.
Responsibilities:
· Assume the role as Executive Chef in his/her absence
· Manage all activities in the kitchen, including food preparation, recipes, and presentation in conjunction with the specifications.
· Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production.
· Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in operating condition.
· Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner.
· Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation recipes, and presentation in conjunction with the specifications.
· Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotation, and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met.
· Assure kitchen personnel are trained in best cleanliness and sanitation practices.
Compensation and benefits:
$45,000-$55,000 based on experience; Medical, Dental, Vision, free telehealth, subsidized cell phones, 2 weeks PTO, and Opportunities for bonuses.
