We have an opportunity for a Commodity Leader to join our Cary, NC team. You will be responsible for the management of the category spend and supply base within Electrical & Electronics team. Reporting to Global Commodity Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for prioritizing strategic initiatives, managing global suppliers, and ensuring all productivity and sourcing metrics are met. You will also be responsible for creating monthly reporting, maintaining KPIs and supporting operations with supplier communications.
You will:
- Leverage business acumen and functional expertise to contribute to the strategic direction of the business segment.
- Identify strategic partners and deliver improved products and lower costs to the organization through supplier management, negotiations, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
- Have continuous involvement in sourcing duties relating to supplier identification, qualification, and selection to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in all aspects of cost.
- Liaise with Engineering and other functional groups to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of the project objectives, selections, and achievements
- Support new product development (NPD), value analysis and value engineering (VA/VE) activities, develop and implement strategies to improve supplier productivity and quality, and to ensure supply chain continuity with suppliers to drive out cost
- Review all part drawings and specifications for parts going out to bid. If drawings and specifications do not exist partner with the Engineering teams to get this made. Assist with technical supplier questions and validation of supplier quotes from incumbent and alternate suppliers.
- Analyze current part materials, specifications, and designs, and evaluate and validate any alternative solutions quoted by suppliers.
- Provide analysis for make versus buy outsourcing/insourcing decisions.
- Execute and analyze RFQ’s, providing supply chain recommendations that are in alignment with category goals and objectives.
- Identify strategic projects to improve costs and delivery.
- Develop and manage projects, report regularly and deliver on-time project completion.
- Engage in project management involving funnel building and multiple projects consisting of strategic sourcing, new supplier development, NPD, cost out projects.
- Maintain ERPs with relevant price updates, new vendor adds/changes. Supplier maintenance.
- Leverage strong project and change management skills to drive continuous improvements for the commodity.
- Introduce innovative ideas for the commodity.
- Build and leverage relationships and networks across the organization.
- Use personal influence skills, teamwork, and collaboration to persuade others and gain support.
Key Qualifications:
- Have a degree in Business / Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Have at least 5+ years of sourcing experience managing suppliers and processes both domestic and internationally.
- Have a manufacturing/Engineering or Quality background and be comfortable interfacing with all levels of a manufacturing and engineering organization.
- Be skilled in problem solving and project management skills.
- Be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
- Have a working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, QAD and JDE).
- Have a demonstrated track record with successful negotiations.
- Be able to work well on team projects with both Finance and Operational personnel.
- Exceptional analytical abilities and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- The ability to multitask and work quickly and efficiently while maintaining high standard of quality and professionalism.
- Ability to travel up to 20 to 40% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
