Social Services Specialist 1 SS 412: $19.88hr. – $31.50hr.
Social Services Specialist 2 SS414: $22.76hr. – $36.07hr.

As part of a Career Progression Group , vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Social Services Specialist 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Social Services Specialist 2 is $75.026 . This position may be filled by Detail, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any of the following will qualify:
1. A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
2. A master's degree in: Criminal Justice; Education with a concentration in Special Education or Guidance and Counseling; Family Life Education (Child Development or Early Childhood Education); Psychology; Sociology; Applied Sociology; Vocational Education; Pastoral Counseling; Counseling; Vocational Rehabilitation; Rehabilitation Counseling; or Human Development Counseling.
3. A baccalaureate degree in social work plus one year of professional social services experience.
4. A baccalaureate degree plus two years of professional social services experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment may be required.
NOTE:
Some positions may require regulation as a Registered Social Worker (RSW), Licensed Master's Social worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

NOTE:
The baccalaureate or master's degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200 Alexandria, VA 22314.

EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Provides supportive counseling for clients and arranges for the provision of services from community resources based on the case plan.
Serves as a liaison in order to assist the client in obtaining medical or social services assistance.
Participates in setting case plan goals and objectives in family team conferences and agency staffings; prepares cases for presentation to the multi-disciplinary team for consultation.
Interviews clients, families, etc. and composes correspondence to compile social histories and/or psychosocial assessments.
Prepares and submits appropriate reports to the Court/District Attorney on cases in compliance with state laws and agency policy, prepares and submits necessary affidavits, and testifies in court proceedings.
Performs regular case maintenance activities including documenting actions, making narrative entries, preparing necessary reports and/or social summaries, etc.
Conducts investigations of allegations of abuse and/or neglect of adults in accordance with agency policy and state law.
Provides those services required for the clients immediate safety; refers clients to appropriate community resources.
Provides those immediate services required during the investigative process and makes appropriate referral to family services or community resources. Obtains information from all appropriate family members and collaterals to determine validity/invalidity of the allegations. May recommend immediate closure of the case following the investigation.
Provides case maintenance, develops and implements case plans and provides direct counseling/services to clients and families.
Monitors compliance with case plan and advocates for client when necessary to obtain needed services.

May serve as court liaison between the agency and the court in the coordination of docket scheduling, affidavit completion, case testimony, judicial reviews and other services as requested/required by the court.
