As a skate guard you will have direct contact engaging with guests and play an integral role in providing a comfortably energized atmosphere that piques the imagination and inspires an exciting upbeat Ice Rink experience while encouraging and maintaining the safety of our guests.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Greet guests with enthusiasm.
• Issue skate rentals.
• Answer guest questions.
• Greet guests at entry and exit points.
• Verify guests are permitted to skate on the ice and that liability waivers are signed.
• Assist guests onto and off of the ice.
• Monitor the amount of guests on the ice in accordance with company set guidelines.
• Monitor the guests' behavior on the ice to ensure a safe environment for all guests to enjoy.
• Assist in the maintenance of the ice, i.e. watering, icing, shoveling, etc.
• Ensuring the quality of the ice is safe and ready for guests to skate on.
• Inform the appropriate individual(s) in the event of unsafe acts or accidents.
• Provide prompt, exceptional, courteous, friendly service by greeting guests in a way that differentiates us from the competition.
• Provide quality service to both internal and external guests, specifically maintaining established quality standards.
• Promote good guest relations and provides excellent guest response to complaints.
• Ensure overall cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Ensure Ice Rink facility and Food & Beverage outlets meet all federal, state, city, county, corporate, hotel, and departmental standards, requirements, policies, and regulations.
• Follow company standards of hospitality by making eye contact with every guest, smiling and offering a warm and friendly greeting with the proper verbiage.
• Remain up-to-date on Hotel current events and the details of all food and beverage outlets.
• Perform guest service functions, including but not limited to welcoming guests to Ice Rink area, handing out and collecting ice skates, skate aides, and other supplies, and attending to guest requests.
• Routinely inspect Ice Rink and surrounding areas, identify cleaning needs, potential safety hazards, problems and maintenance or repair needs, and notify the appropriate individual(s) for proper resolution.
• Maintain thorough menu and product knowledge.
• Learn and utilize guest names at every opportunity.
• Complete side work, including stocking product, and cleaning and organizing service areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Excellent ice skating skills.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English.
• Polished appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
• At least 16 years of age

Preferred:

• Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.
• Previous experience working for and ice rink or arena.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work is performed in outdoor environment. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. Temperatures vary between 15-120 degrees. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Constant contact with executives, department management, applicants, CoStars and guests is necessary. Requires prolonged sitting or standing and mobility. Requires bending and reaching. Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires the use of standard office equipment. Requires the use of an iPad and applications. Requires basic math. Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
