Position Summary

The purpose of the Lead is to assist the Value Stream Team Leaders with the daily activities of their shift. They will help assure that their shift is functioning at the highest levels possible and help communicate the daily, weekly and monthly requirements and expectations of the production Value Streams. The Leader will be involved in most of the aspects of running the operations of the shift they are assigned. They will be involved with safety, communications, training and development, lean, (HPT) high performance teams, tracking and audits, continuous improvement efforts and scheduling. They will provide valuable feedback to Supervisors and Managers regarding performance of the work stream and the progress of employees within the VS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, facilitate and be an active member and supporter of (HPT) High Performance Teams
  • Advocate and take active role in Lean and other continuous improvement projects with the ability to write standard work
  • Assign, monitor, delegate assignments and react to activities throughout the value stream supporting job rotations
  • Ensure productivity by fielding questions, ensuring operators are on track and understand work assignments
  • Be an active participant in the layered audit process conducting daily audits
  • Must regularly lead Kaizen or other problem solving events
  • Assure all team members are performing and documenting quality checks based on department procedures
  • Capable of delegating work assignments, maintaining kiosk boards, report out on activities within the value stream
  • Capable and willing to perform jobs within the VS in order to fill in for operators during meetings or to cover absences
  • Capable of cross training within multiple areas creating flexibility and understanding
  • Accountable to VS metrics such as; Safety, Quality, LISC, Scrap, and Units per Labor Hour
  • Responsible for Training including working with team members to develop and maintaining their Skills Matrix
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings, lead Safety Toolbox talks
  • Promotes the culture of engagement and empowerment by coaching and mentoring team members

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required, additional education preferred
  • Be open and able to attend leadership training modules either on or off site
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills (CAR/PAR/8D)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to share information in a group setting
  • Completion of HPT Orientation, Site Leader Certification and A3/10 Step problem solving training
  • Computer literate using email, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of all positions within the VS, including lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Be available for OT (with approval) to attend meetings, transition shift
