Description


As a Senior Technician for Engineering/Biosafety, you will be responsible for conducting a wide variety of Performance, Physical Evaluation, and Alternate Voltage Testing on Biosafety Cabinets using specific standards and procedures. We are looking for someone with long term plans to learn and grow in the Biosafety Team.



PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABLITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform high level laboratory testing with minimal supervision after each training is completed
  • Maintaining/organizing assigned workload and meet specific due dates
  • Start to finish testing (set up, pack up, monitoring, data entry, peer reviews)
  • Prepare and record all data per ISO 17025
  • Review and write SOPs as necessary
  • Monitor and maintain assigned lab equipment for calibrations and other lab needs
  • Give and receive continuous trainings
  • Cross-train in other lab areas to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and 6s (5s + Safety) areas
  • Assure adherence to all safety/health policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline or High school diploma/GED with two years NSF laboratory work experience or three years external lab experience
  • Ability to read, understand and follow standards, SOP’s and test methods
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated in completing assignments correctly and on schedule
  • Habit of critical data evaluation
  • Great attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable of PC/Windows software and Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word)
  • Ability to utilize wide range of tools (hand, power, and pneumatic tools)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding and experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
  • Organized and able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel to support clients

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
  • Experience using a Biosafety Cabinet
  • Knowledge of Microbiological best practices
  • Knowledge of Aseptic Laboratory Techniques
  • Laboratory experience and/or college level laboratory coursework
  • Two years’ experience in testing using standard or methods
  • Knowledgeable with laboratory QA/QC programs
  • Experience in Quality Control testing
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical trouble shooting
  • Ability to properly handle/mix chemicals and understand the safety risks of each

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light to heavy physical effort required
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Standing for long periods of time is necessary - ~80% lab work 20% desk work
  • Safety glasses and steel toes must always be worn in lab areas.
  • Proper PPE (gloves, hard hats, face shields) needed during specific testing
