Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist in our Personal and Home Care business in Bridgewater, NJ. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Personal Care and Home Care function.

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist in our Personal and Home Care business in Bridgewater, NJ. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Personal Care and Home Care function.
This position will report to Principal Scientist.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Support development of technologies for Personal care and / or Home Care applications

Work with support groups and global R&D organisation to drive projects forward
-
Carry on experiments, make model formulations, develop prototypes in the lab
-
Develop new applications and new claims for existing raw materials
-
Drive hypothesis driven scientific programs to understand technology mode of action
-
Interface/collaborate with other R&D labs / teams
-
Develop methods to demonstrate raw material benefits.

Communicate clearly and effectively
-
Interface/collaborate with key customers for joint development projects

Present scientific findings in conferences / symposium / trade shows
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

Minimum of B.S. in chemistry or associated field of study

Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience within the personal care industry, preferably in consumer products/finished goods

Demonstrated scientific creativity in developing new formulations, methods and claims
-
Basic knowledge of chemistry and consumer benefits of personal care raw materials
-
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a dynamic, highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary, customer focused environment

Excellent communication and presentation skills, good work ethic and positive attitude
-
Good trouble analytical/troubleshooting skills
-
Ability to travel as required, about 5-10% (estimated)
