Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Two (2) years in hospital registration and/or scheduling preferred. Excellent communication and
customer service skills required. Medical terminology and experience in a medical setting preferred. - Must be able to work one to two Saturdays per month at the OR Desk as Nursing Unit Secretary
- Ability to work evening hours (3PM-11PM) when required
- Typing 35 wpm preferred. Windows/mouse/multitasking of computer applications required. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and all department related equipment. Familarity with ClinStar and PHS preferred

Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Scheduling Secretary at Hackensack Meridian includes:
- Monitors surgeons that are on the medical records suspension list. Schedules procedures based on the
surgeon's current privileges. - Documents all requests for resources and special requests. Notifies and
documents when other departments or companies are called to arrange for specific services required for
the procedure. Perpares daily OR schedule. Perfoms the Fax Manager functions according to the
procedure. Selects the correct patient from the MPI. Schedules each patient for the most appropropriate
procedure(s) based on the established protocols in light of infomation provided by the customer. - Obtains pertinent background and medical history that is appropriate for the procedure to be scheduled. Provides
customer with detailed information by fax or telephone. - Facilitates all customer inquiries via phone, fax, email, web based and in person arrivals
- Performs all of the NUS duties when covering the OR desk.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
