Primary Duties
- Complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. Supports the goals and objectives of the outpatient wound center and hospital.
- Provides specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinic competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management.
- Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (physician, clinical coordinator, mid-level provider) and records observations accurately and concisely.
- Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing patient care.
- Administers medications and performs treatments to assigned patients within the center.
- Directs and evaluates nursing care provided to patients undergoing therapy.
- Assists physicians with tests and procedures as directed.
- Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
- Assists with orientation of new center personnel.
- Helps coordinate nursing care of patients scheduled for therapy or procedures in other departments.
- Establishes and maintains communication and utilizes teaching opportunities with patients, caregivers, or other significant individuals.
- Assists with or institutes emergency measures, as needed, regarding sudden adverse developments with patients.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participates in center quality assurance and improvement.
- Participates in hospital committees as designated
- Attends mandatory hospital education and center meetings.
- Adheres to and enforces hospital dress code policy
- Actively participates in the identification of areas for improvement and in participation in the improvement process.

- Maintains the highest level of customer service via courtesy, compassion and positive communication.
- Promotes the Mission and Vision of PAM Health within the work environment and community.
- Respects dignity and confidentiality by adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Health and Safety
- Works in a manner that promotes safety; wears clothing appropriate to the performance of the job.
- Participates in OSHA required training.
- Follows universal precautions as appropriate for position; complies with Employee Health requirements for continued employment.
- Reports unsafe practices to management.
- Knows own role in case of an emergency.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training: Provides documents or credentials of graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current Registered Nursing License for the state in which the employee is working. Certification from approved Wound Care Certification course is preferred. Has current CPR certification and maintains same.
Experience: One year direct patient care experience as RN required. Extensive experience in wound care and HBO preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
- Performs moderate physical work exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds of force on an occasional basis, performing such activities as fingering, grasping, carrying, lifting, holding, reaching, opening, pulling, pushing, speaking, hearing, walking, and writing.
- Performs the described duties through the use of appropriate equipment.
