The Customer Technology Department is looking for a Research Coordinator to join the Product Design, Research, and Content team.

This role will support designers and researchers on product teams to help coordinate research activities and communications with MBTA riders, as well as ensure the secure storage of personal information and manage our rider research participant list. This role will closely collaborate with the Principal Research and report to the Head of Product Design.

Day to day, you will:

  • Handle the logistics of research sessions with riders for product teams. Including correspondence for invitations, setting up physical and/or remote spaces for sessions, managing the session booking tools, securely noting their information for compensation.
  • Recruit participants for product teams rider-facing research. Support product teams to ensure these participants are the “right” fit for the specific research effort, in terms of service usage, demographics, accessibility needs, etc. Help execute secondary screeners for their research when necessary.
  • Communicate with product teams about the status of recruitment, research sessions, compensation.
  • Manage the Research Participant Panel, and ensure all participants are centralized in one list with most current contact information. Work with the Principal Researcher in further recruiting efforts to build out the diversity of the list.

  • You have experience in design or design research or are interested in learning.
  • You have experience working responsibly with sensitive items, systems, or data (e.g., handling money, personal information, or credentials).
  • You have experience (part-time or full-time) working in the service industry or another field where you worked directly with the public.
  • You are highly organized, motivated, and have great attention to detail.

Work experience guidelines:

  • Although we’re mostly interested in your ability to do the work listed above as demonstrated in your resume, here are some guidelines on the capabilities and experience we think might be most suited for this role. Please keep in mind that these are advisory, and not required.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in providing administrative and/or operational support in any capacity
  • A depth of experience setting up Zoom meetings and Microsoft calendar invitations
  • Experience working and with Personally Identifiable Information
  • Experience using online collaboration tools (e.g. Slack, Asana, etc.)
  • Solid organizational and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with UX or other Research methods

Location:

  • This role is hybrid. While most activities can be accomplished remotely, a component of this role requires an in-person element.
  • Unfortunately, we are unable to hire candidates who would perform their work in Washington DC, Connecticut, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Washington, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico.

Compensation:

Pay rate range is $31 - $48 per hour (W-2), up to 1880 hours per year.

This is a full-time hourly position within the Customer Technology Department at the MBTA. We work with payroll vendors that offer benefits such as pre-taxed health insurance, 401k options, and paid sick time.
