Job Summary: The xray technologist is responsible for all xray procedures performed at South Boston Community Health Center. Preference for technologists who also hold a mammography certification and can perform both xray and screening mammography procedures.

Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited radiologic program; Up to date MA state and ARRT certification as a radiologic technologist. Preference to those who are also a graduate from an accredited mammography program and has up to date MA state and ARRT certification as mammography technologist, as well.

Saturday and evening availability required.

Key Competencies:

• Sets up equipment, adjusts and operated controls according to specific diagnostic procedures and in accordance with established technique and routine.
• Prepares patients for examinations, insuring comfort and modesty.
• Positions patients to obtain desired radiographic /mammographic results according to established procedures and physician specifications (may involve lifting or assisting patients on/off x-ray table and equipment as necessary).
• Ensures that each patient has been told what the exam entails.
• Places protective lead shields on patients and follows established safety standards.
• Reports unusual incidents or circumstances, hazards, and patient conditions to manager.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to all ages of patients and respectful of all religious/cultures/ethnicity of varying patients.
• Maintains work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition following infection control procedures after each patient examination.
• Attends all necessary in-services and participates in quality improvement programs for both radiology and mammography services.
• Performs other duties as requested.
