McCain Food’s facility in Fruitland, ID specializes in the procurement and management of raw onions. It is the largest fresh onion shipping facility in our network, employing approximately 30 employees.

This site is responsible for storing and shipping raw material to all our NA facilities that later is being utilized in production of our company line of appetizers.

Position Summary:

Responsible for inspecting raw materials by measuring raw material attributes, testing and supplying the data of the evaluation, including data entry into an electronic database, and reporting the results to appropriate personnel.

The job requires you to work in load and dusty environment and depending on the season in hot/cold conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations
• Collects samples and conducts various tests on raw to ensure they meet company quality specifications.
• Measures and records quality attributes of tested product.
• Calibrate and set up lab equipment, perform new testing techniques and procedures.
• Enters data into the computer system.
• Documents, charts and graphs data.
• In off season, the person will be participating in preparation of facility to the new season, including maintenance, cleaning work on sorting lines and company storage facilities.
• During the harvest person maybe directed to help with task associated with receiving and storing raw materials as well as handling harvest related duties.
• Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process to assure a quality operation.
• Will be assigned other work duties for example like maintaining our facility office space.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively and communicate with growers and groups of employees
• Must have demonstrated computer skills and experience with the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, high stress environment where multi-tasking is required.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to constantly changing situation.

Physical Demand:

Constant: standing on regularly scheduled shift and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently: Walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.

Occasionally: Sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
