SUMMARY: Habitat’s mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. As an integral part of the Strategic Partnerships Team, the primary responsibility of the Public Relations Manager is to enhance and promote the mission of Habitat for Humanity through available communication channels. Serving as a “mission reporter,” this position works with the Communication Director to create content that aims to increase brand awareness, dispel myths and encourage supporters to take action (donate, volunteer, advocate).
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the communication team in the planning, creation and execution of its multi-channel marketing efforts.
  • Maintain Habitat for Humanity’s positive brand identity and reputation
  • Write compelling content for use among digital and print mediums
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets
  • Develop press kit materials for media outlets, including press releases, images, pitch letters, feature articles, and more
  • Manage social media platforms, developing an optimal posting schedule considering web traffic and audience engagement metrics
  • Review and edit communications drafted by staff to ensure messaging is consistent with tone and branding
  • Track, evaluate, document and share media hits and mentions
  • Participate in enhancing, supporting and promoting events, including virtual engagement

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field
  • 2-3 Years’ experience in Marketing or Communications
  • Proficient in AP style, proofreading and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in a nonprofit or related field a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
  • Regularly spend hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
  • Regularly spend hours standing
  • Regularly work on repetitive tasks
  • Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand
  • Frequently bend to file and maintain files
  • Regularly lift 5-20 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:
  • Majority of day working in an office setting
  • Generally quiet environment
