The candidate will develop and submit proposals and respond to data calls. Sciolex is seeking a smart and obsessively conscientious team player with at least three years’ experience in responding to federal RFPs, preferably on behalf of a professional services firm. In addition to supporting the development of well-written and beautifully designed proposals, the ideal candidate will play a critical role in many different internal and external facing projects. This includes building a library of our core capability write-ups, brainstorming ways to organize and improve our lead generation process for business development leads, maintaining the integrity of our proposal development process, facilitating lessons learned sessions and after-action reports, and being readily available to support quick turnaround memos and ad hoc content requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in proposal development process steps from a go/no-go decision through outlining, writing, and gathering content, and submission.
- Generate, track, review, and follow-up on data calls for internal and subcontractor teammates.
- Support positive teambuilding and assist in business development activities and capture management.
- Identify and communicate resource needs for proposals and capability statements.
- Identify, gather, and tailor existing copy or write new copy to respond to the requirements of prospective partner agencies, memos, RFIs, and RFPs.
- Routinely update and maintain our proposal library matrix.
- Support the development of win themes and differentiators during brainstorming sessions.
- Support lessons learned processes and after-action reports by interviewing team members on successful or unsuccessful strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Update and track proposal language, case studies, resumes, and past performance.
- Review final proposals to ensure that all terms and conditions are met.
- Research, organize, and write technical proposal content and sections.
- Describe solutions to meet client’s unique needs, presenting benefits/value of approach, staff, and experience.
- Format and layout proposal sections, including ideating or developing graphics, to ensure ease of readability.
- Participate in color team reviews to modify/shape content through proposal process lifecycle.
- Develop presentations for key offering areas or for key clients.
- Support marketing efforts by writing and contributing to blog posts, white papers, and other marketing content.
- Develop content and basic graphics for specific proposals.

- Create and update proposal templates and maintain a current and historical record of proposals via a proposal database.
- Prepare and maintain the proposal plan and schedule. Develop compliance matrices, assist in writing and editing, and ensuring consistency with proposal themes.
- Work well as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of related proposal development experience.
- Excellent writing skills and expertise in copyediting, and the ability to understand and communicate concepts in a compelling persuasive manner.
- Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work directly with internal clients and manage projects in collaboration with others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Flexibility to quickly adapt when “pop up” and other high priority needs that cause priorities to change.
- Experience working under pressure with deadlines is critical.
- Perform with a sense of urgency as required.
