Program Assistant Job at YWCA Columbus
Are you looking for a part-time opportunity in education and childcare? Looking to make a difference in children's lives and help your community? As a Before and After School Program Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Kids Place Site Director in the care and nurturing of children and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment in a licensed school age childcare classroom.
Kid's Place programs are located at elementary schools throughout Westerville, Gahanna and United School Network (USN) Charter Schools. Select the location that is closest to you!
Schedule Options for Westerville and Columbus:
- Monday - Friday AM and PM between 6:45 -9:15 am AND 3:00 - 6:00 pm
- Monday - Friday AM 6:45 -9:15 am
- Monday - Friday PM 3:00 - 6:00 pm
Schedule Options for Gahanna:
- Monday - Friday AM and PM between 6:45 -9:15 am AND 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Monday - Friday AM 6:45 -9:15 am
- Monday - Friday PM 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for care and engagement of children in grades K-5 in award-winning before and after school programs.
- Facilitate choice-based activities such as art, science, technology and math, physical activities and homework assistance with children.
- Obtain and maintain training in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Recognition, Communicable Diseases and 10 hours of Ohio Approved Training for childcare programs. YWCA Columbus will pay for your training!
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year experience in childcare or children's programs required.
- COVID vaccination required for employment. Can start with in process vaccination as long as the 2nd dose is administered within 30 days of beginning employment.
- Desire to work with children
- Must be able to recognize and act upon any hazard to a child’s safety and well-being
- Desire to further the mission of YWCA Columbus: To eliminate racism and empower women

- We will pay for you to maintain your certifications in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Recognition, Communicable Diseases and all other required certifications.
- We are offering a $1000 sign on bonus, with $500 payable on your first check after 30 days, and $500 after you complete the 90-day probationary period.
