The Production Manager controls the building materials product line, mainly decking and railing, from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties: plan, coordinate, and direct the sales, marketing, and sourcing of assigned product categories.

Production Manager responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for directing product selection and new product development of decking and railing categories in order to increase revenue and profitability at the Regional and Branch level.
- Recommends and coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual product sales, promotions, and marketing activities.
- Coordinates advertising activities including planning and coordination of shows and conferences.
- Monitors and provides input on product pricing and margins based on market conditions.
- Performs on-going product rationalization to ensure performance, growth and profit improvement based on margin improvement potential, market sensitivity pricing, and inventory constraints.
- Works closely with branch staff to develop and implement product strategy, research and development requirements, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products.
- Coordinates technical product development.
- Provides technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.
- Conducts marketing analysis to develop product definitions.
- Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
- Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for product.
- Coordinates and develops marketing, sales, engineering, and financial plans for product line.
- Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry.
- Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors.
- Assists in establishing dealer networks and creates and manages alliances with manufacturers.
- Supports the field sales organization in key sales presentations.
- Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical expertise and knowledge of company products.
- Familiarity with relevant inventory and manufacturing terminology.
- Familiarity with door components and assembly techniques.
- Basic analytical, reasoning, and math abilities.
- Basic verbal communication skills.
