The Pre-Service Specialist is responsible for initiating a positive patient experience through the smooth operation of calls handled within the pre-service area.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 9:00am – 5:30pm MST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. Our office is located at 5450 Western Ave. Boulder, CO.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pre-registration
    • Obtain accurate demographics (Address, Phone, Guarantor, etc.)
    • Gather up-to-date Insurance information (Plan, ID Number, Subscriber, etc.)
    • Complete all required compliance queries
  • Hospital scheduling
    • Provide accurate exam preparations
    • Efficient navigation of service area schedules
    • Appropriate notation of authorizations and ICD codes
    • Accurate entry of Provider Information
    • Collaborate with additional resources as necessary
  • Customer Service
    • Optimize patient flow through excellent time management
    • Collect confidential and sensitive information in a respectful manner
    • Remain knowledgeable with changing workflows
    • Responsible for alerting patients of estimated patient portions due at time of service and collecting when available

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher) or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of Customer Service experience such as hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support
  • Ability to come onsite in for meetings and equipment repair/retrieval

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with prior authorizations
  • 1+ years of electronic health record experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
  • Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Reside within an hour of Boulder, CO
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $16.00 - $26.88.
