Starting salary at $35.51/hour ($74,113/year),
plus
cash allowance of $600/month,

As the Parks and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, you will supervise staff engaged in the maintenance of Sonoma County Regional Parks' grounds, bike trails, buildings and community centers, and marinas. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Assigning and evaluating the work of staff performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and/or landscaping tasks
- Resolving daily operational challenges
- Prioritizing projects which also includes preparing estimates, scheduling labor, and ordering materials
- Creating and implementing occupational and safety programs
- Maintaining records and preparing operational activity reports
- Gathering data and making recommendations on materials and equipment budgets
- Responding to written, phone, and electronic inquiries
- Managing maintenance inventory and creating preventative maintenance schedules
- Training staff in preventative maintenance, pre-trip inspections, troubleshooting, and routine repairs
- Lead experience performing both semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance tasks, as well as supervising a team
- Generalist maintenance experience ranging from working in open space to developed areas
- Experience with job site construction and project safety
- Familiarity working with service agreements
- Experience researching and finding resources to resolve maintenance issues
- Effective listening and communication skills
- Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing work within set deadlines
- The ability to use computer systems to write reports, enter data, and track information
It is highly desirable that candidates have one or more of the following certifications:
Arborist Certificate- Certified Pool Operator
- General Contractor’s License/Certificate
- Landscape Contractor’s License/Certificate
- Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate
- Playground Safety Inspector
- Water Treatment Operator (T1)
- Or other comparable certificates

The Sonoma County Regional Park's Department is currently recruiting for a Parks and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor position. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
: Any combination of education, training, and experience which would likely provide for possession of the knowledge and abilities herein. Normally, this would include graduation from high school or a General Education Degree equivalent, and three years of experience in the maintenance and construction of buildings and grounds at the semi-skilled level, which included at least two years at the level of lead worker.
License: Possession of a valid driver license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
A valid State of California Class A Commercial Driver’s License, including valid and appropriate California Endorsements is desirable.
Desirable Certifications : Depending upon assignment, possession of one or more of the additional licenses and/or certificates is desirable: An Arborist certificate; a general contractor’s license; a Pesticide Applicator’s license; a Playground Safety Inspector certificate; a Pool Operator certificate; a Water Treatment Operator (T1) certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board; and/or other comparable certificates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of
: methods, materials, and equipment used in building and parks maintenance and unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled construction work including carpentry, welding, masonry, plumbing, and electrical systems; landscape and grounds maintenance practices and procedures; operation, maintenance, and safety requirements of machinery and equipment; safety procedures associated with unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance work.
Working knowledge of : ADA requirements for assigned building and construction projects; sprays, pesticides and the proper means of controlling insects, parasites and plant diseases; the principles of supervision, training, and motivating staff; maintenance and operation of water and septic/sewer systems in parks; budgeting and expenditure control; hazmat and proper disposal of raw sewage.
Ability to : supervise and evaluate the work of parks and maintenance personnel performing unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled work; establish and maintain effective working relationships; follow oral and written instructions; make, interpret, and work from technical sketches, blueprints, circuit diagrams, and plans; estimate costs, labor, time, and materials to keep accurate records; prepare and present oral and written reports; read and write in English; perform arithmetic calculations; perform a variety of light and heavy unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled parks and building construction repair, and maintenance tasks; set priorities to comply with departmental work management systems; effectively answer questions from the general public; work independently; problem solve and make sound decisions; use electronic equipment to communicate.
