JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for training and educating new employees on proper departmental inventory management and control processes, as well as the use of department's bone and tissue database. Serves as department contact for all FDA approval and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement issues. Works with OR clinical and inventory staff and hospital materials management staff on all product recalls. Assists OR materials supervisor with management of daily case picking process. Works with OR materials manager and supervisor on inventory system issues, changes, or upgrades, and assist on monthly and year-end inventory audits Works with OR charging staff to provide accurate pricing on products used in the department. Conducts monthly review of expiration dated supply items. Knowledgeable of inventory service line supplies in order to provide temporary support for those items whenever there is an absence or position vacancy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

  • Associate's degree in Business with two years' supervisory experience;

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year with computerized inventory system preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Coordinates training and education of all inventory staff as needed to ensure inventory management and control processes are followed.

2. Trains and oversees all inventory staff on the use and maintenance of TrackCore bone and tissue database.

3. Works with appropriate hospital, vendor, and government entities to address and resolve issues regarding FDA approvals and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursements for supplies and equipment.

4. Serves as department contact for product recalls to ensure that OR clinical staff, inventory staff, and hospital materials management are able to provide proper action in a timely manner.

5. Assists OR materials supervisor with assignment and distribution of cases to be picked and delivered to the proper operating room based on the procedures documented on the daily OR schedule.

6. Assists in conducting monthly and year-end inventory audits and provide support to OR materials manager and supervisor on appropriate inventory issues, changes, or upgrades.

7. Works with OR charge staff as needed to provide accurate pricing on supplies and equipment.

8. Reviews on a monthly basis expiration dated products within each service line, as well as in TrackCore to ensure items nearing expiration are used or returned for credit.

9. Develops basic knowledge of inventory service line (CT, ENT, Neuro, etc.) supply items and locations to be able to assume temporary responsibility for products used when there is an absence or vacancy.

10. Provides age-developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Guidelines for the age groups served when participating in patient care.
