Operations Manager - Landscaping Job at Ready Field Solutions / Ready to Haul
Operations Manager
Ready Field Solutions is currently seeking a full-time Operations Manager for our Mulch and Playground Division, based in Streetsboro, OH. We have a branch in Columbus OH as well. Operations Manager directs approximately ten mulch crews (using blower trucks) to safely accomplish quality and production goals. This is salaried, exempt position.
Like many Ops Manager positions in the Green Industry, there is a lot of work to be done in the spring! We travel to Cincinnati to start the season in Feb/Mar. We then move to Columbus to serve customers in the capital area. Finally, we make our way back north to our home market within Akron/Cleveland/Canton. The Ops Manager travels with the fleet to support the work. There are periods away from home, a week or two at a time. A road warrior mentality is critical in this job. Travel and food are paid for, of course. Many love the instant gratification of newly mulched landscapes and the fast tempo of the work. Plus, our blower trucks are really cool!
Summer work slows slightly as we transition from landscape mulch to playground mulch. It is still peak season as we continue to travel through Ohio to serve landscapers, cities, municipalities, and schools. Autumn ends the season as we help with new installations, including soil installs. We are busy right through Thanksgiving.
Then, the dreaded winter of… not plowing snow. Yes, that is right- we don’t plow snow. We use this time to regroup and relax, simply because of the intense workload in spring and summer. We allow flexibility in the work week during this time.
The culture is blue-collar. There are long days. And we have good people on our team that work hard, for their families and each other.
