We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team in a busy ophthalmology office. This PART-time position requires strong front desk skills, the ability to handle multiple phone lines and schedules, strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure. The ideal candidate will also have previous experience in an office setting, knowledge of medical procedures, and the ability to handle confidential information.
Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of a physician, answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide patients with charts, lists of instructions, and other paperwork and information.
- Read patient charts and verify patient's identity, medical history, and insurance information to ensure that all pertinent information is available for consultation.
- Schedule follow-up appointments; request prescription refills; and refer patients as needed to other medical employers or community services.
- Transmit medical records to physicians or other medical personnel with appropriate authorization.
