Generations Geriatric Mental Health is an interdisciplinary private practice located in Manchester, NH. Our practice has a diverse, multidisciplinary team comprised of Geriatric Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Neuropsychologists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Social Workers, and Nurses, who have years of experience working with the senior population. We treat older adults (70+) with memory problems, depression, anxiety, and other emotional illnesses, and assist patients and their families in coping with aging and illness.
GENERATIONS Geriatric Mental Health seeks a Part Time Medical Assistant, 25-30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, day shift.
Responsibilities include
- Managing the prescription renewal line, ensuring all patients’ requests are handled in a timely manner.
- Processing medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods.
- Handling prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documenting appropriately.
- Communicating with patients in a timely, courteous and professional manner using oral, written, telephonic or electronic means.
- Reinforcing patient/family education given by our providers.
- Obtaining and documenting age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight and medication list review based on visit purpose and clinical condition as needed by provider.
- Performing/documenting specific screening based on condition/need including depression, anxiety and cognition as requested by provider.
- Documenting using clear, concise and professional written skills.
- Identifying emergent situations and communicating to appropriate personnel for interventions
- Communicating to the office manager when supplies must be reordered.
- Cross training to the patient service representative role which includes answering inbound calls to the practice, checking in/checking out of patients and scheduling/rescheduling patient appointments.
- Assisting with training and orienting staff as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to:
- Work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Manage work processes in a neat and systematic way.
- Communicate effectively
- Become proficient in using our Electronic Health Record, EPIC, and other computer applications.
- Accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, physicians, patients, families and the public.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required AND Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program (required)
- Experience: One (1) to three (3) years medical assistant experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Certification or registration (CMA, RMA or ABR-OE) by AAMA or AMT is required
- Computer: Computer/EMR experience preferred.
- Vaccination Status: Position requires individual to be vaccinated for COVID19 as office is located in a healthcare facility that requires this
