Johnson Electric (JE) is excited to announce that we are now recruiting for Co-Op Application Engineer for our Vandalia, OH location. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and dedicated mechanical engineering student to work under an experienced engineer to design, build, troubleshoot, and offer overall general support. The student will experience real-world mechanical design activities including 3D modeling, fabrication, mechanical testing, wiring and tuning of motor driven motion systems, and reverse engineering competitive technologies. Technology space is in motors, solenoids, and motion systems.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Performs work in Solidworks software to design mechanical components and validate fitment to full system.
• Hand building prototypes of lawn and garden equipment including; fitment of motors, transaxles, controllers, sensors, and more.
• Hands-on testing and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and associated electronics.
• Support parametric tuning of BLDC motor software under guidance of lead engineers

Our Requirements:

• Student must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA average.
• Student must be available August 2023
• Student must be working towards a mechanical or electrical engineering degree ideally in the Junior or Senior year, but consideration for outstanding Sophomores will be given consideration.
• Student must be equally comfortable designing and performing hands-on work.
• Solidworks experience with basic knowledge of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
• Python or MATLAB experience is a plus as is time spent in the ST or Raspberry Pi Pico environments.

Job Types: Full-time, Internship

Pay: $62,511.41 - $75,282.56 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

• Vandalia, OH 45377: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
