We have openings for research engineers for full-time positions located in Dublin, OH.

Position Summary

Engineers in this position will be performing computational modeling/analysis of energy systems, such as pipelines, and preparing technical reports and papers. The engineer will work closely with fellow team members and the project lead throughout the full lifecycle of a project, including scope definition, proposal preparation, work planning and execution, deliverable preparation, and communication with clients.

Major Responsibilities

  • Performing finite element modeling and analysis for energy systems under complex operational and environmental loadings
  • Interacting with test programs and individuals responsible for test programs; interpreting and utilizing test results
  • Developing predicative models for component integrity using a combination of analytical and numerical tools
  • Implementing predicative models in software formats for client deployment
  • Presenting updates on technical tasks in internal discussions and client meetings
  • Drafting or assisting in the drafting of technical reports and papers for clients, conferences, and journal publications

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in material, mechanical, civil, or aerospace engineering with three years’ experience; Master’s or PhD degree is highly preferred
  • Solid foundation in the following subject areas: Solid mechanics, Fracture mechanics, Material Degradation
  • Familiarity with at least one commercial finite element analysis (FEA) package
  • Experience with Python development
  • Passionate about mechanistic understanding of engineering problems
  • Excellent skills in oral presentation and technical writing
  • Good work attitude, able to work in a team environment
  • Enthusiastic about taking on new subject areas

Desirable Traits and Skills

  • Familiarity with ABAQUS®, Fortran and C++
  • Familiarity with finite element meshing algorithms
  • Leadership and team building experience
  • Takes initiative in improving established workflow or processes, e.g., task automation.
  • Project management including scheduling, budgeting, scoping, and communication
  • Knowledge or project experience in any of the following subject areas: Metallurgy, Welding, Computational mechanics, Soil mechanics ,Non-destructive examination ,Pipeline in-line inspection
