Materials Plant Engineer

This position will support the asphalt and concrete operations manager to maintain safe and effective operations and meet customer material demands.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Works with Quality and Project Personnel to timely develop and submit mix designs

• Assure that plant has sufficient raw materials on site to be able to meet customers’ schedule
• Support Plant Operations manager to procure pricing and negotiate for the procurement of raw materials and essential services
• Take a lead role in the procurement of all permits and necessary reporting requirements
• Assist Quality staff to resolve any material quality issues
• Manage cost accounting report to assure that information generated is accurate and is in a format that is beneficial for evaluation of plant costs
• Support operational staff to budget and execute major capital repairs
• Support Operations Manager’s to procure pricing and evaluate daily and capital expenditures
• Work with Safety Team to regularly audit the effectiveness of our safety and environmental systems and develop a plan for the mitigation of any deficiencies. Coordinate with the Plant Operations Managers for the scheduling and implementation of the plan
• Support Plant Operations Managers to cover the geographic spread to assure that we are able to support our daily operations
• Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors.
• Support Operations Managers and Sales staff in quoting materials for internal and external customers
• Be involved in industry associations

• Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must have a BS, Civil Engineering , Mechanical Engineering or equivalent to be considered for this position.
• 3-5 Years of Experience in plant operations

• Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing

the duties outlined above.

Qualifications:

• Materials processing or Construction/related degree with 3 to 5 years plant operations experience
• Excellent computer skills and analytical ability
• Understanding of industrial construction process
• Prefer - Experience in asphalt or concrete manufacturing experience for DOT projects
• Must have ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings
• Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
• Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects
