Summary of Key Responsibilities

A managing director, Roastery & Reserve is a leader that possesses a deep belief in and fostering of Starbucks culture, while also establishing and maintaining strong ties within the community they serve. They have an ability to establish rock-solid operational fundamentals with an act-like-an-owner mentality, driving growth via a keen understanding across partner, customer, and business needs. They use their servant leader mentality to coach their team for excellence while being a clear and inspirational communicator. A managing director also must effectively toggle between vision and strategy to drive execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Partner (Employee)-Centric: Has advocated for and implemented processes that improve the partner experience (driving significant culture improvement/partner buy-in).

  • Retail Customer Experience: Has advocated for and implemented processes that improve the customer experience (ideally 10 – 12 years within experiential, flagship, and/or premium retail environments).

  • Business Planning: Led the development of a full business plan in an operations environment (strategy, roadmap, measurement, and budget) and led through the plan for at least two business cycles.

- Business Growth: Delivered revenue growth via customer-centric business strategies.

- P&L Scope: Has been fully accountable for a sizable P&L, with keen understanding of financial levers, and demonstrated results driving material profit improvement.

  • Customer Insight: Deeply understands and interprets customer data, behaviors and feedback into conclusions that align customers' needs with business goals.

  • Cross Functional Relationships: Has ensured collaboration with other business leaders and key stakeholders to achieve synergies across the enterprise, while maintaining a ‘first team’ mentality. Ability to serve as strategic advisor to multiple functional areas within the organization and work closely with appropriate stakeholders to ensure responsible outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Expertise: Has operational and hospitality experience leading teams in retail, restaurant, or consumer products industry (ideally in a dynamic, large, and complex environment).

  • Program Implementation: Led the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods, and practices.

  • External Relationships: Has owned and influenced a diverse network of external relationships that foster community and are mutually beneficial.

  • Timeline Management: Has experience elevating, coordinating and executing fast-track timelines (without compromising quality of deliverable).
