Job Summary:
Oversees dining room and acts as goodwill ambassador to guests. Responsible for checking in and managing the seating of all guests, both reservations and walk-ins. Manages reservation book and accepts walk-in guests to help maximize seating for each shift. Acknowledges and interacts with restaurant guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality
Essential Functions:
- Anticipate needs of scheduled special parties
- Communicate seating needs to service, busser and other host staff
- Complete all side work when and as assigned
- Master the restaurant’s computer seating system
- Check to ensure that all server and busser side work has been completed as assigned
- Train and educate host staff in standing operating procedure
- Assign service staff workstations if requested to do so
- Anticipates and accommodates all needs of the guest
- Maintains the general cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area and entire venue
- Complies with all Department of Health and company sanitation standards
- Actively takes and processes reservations and strives to accommodate guest requests
- Assists with incoming calls and answering guest questions
- Strategically plots reservations, and appropriately accommodates walk-ins to ensure a smooth shift
- Provide the dining room team with initial table set-up
- Properly sets-up front desk area, performs side-work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management
- Reports all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management
- Attends and participates in daily pre-service meetings
- Coordinates and verifies house tip-pooling process
- Act as the liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Have an extensive knowledge of our restaurant's food offerings and beverage program
- Inspect dining and service areas, equipment and storage areas for organization and cleanliness
- Relay all guest comments or suggestions to the restaurant manager on duty
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
- Create a welcoming environment for guests, greeting them, thanking them, and saying “good-bye”
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
- Embody and deliver on exceptional service and hospitality
Qualification Standards:
Prefer a minimum of 1 year of full-service restaurant Maitre D’ experience or the equivalent. Must have accurate mathematic skills. Must be proficient in:
- Menu and specials
- Wine list
- Liquor list and specialty drinks
- Liquor liability laws and knowledge
- Restaurant layout including table numbers and station numbers
- Table management organization and multi-tasking
- Appearance standards; polished and well-groomed
- Dining etiquette and protocol
- Verbal communication skills
- Passion for hospitality
- Working in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
Must be willing and able to:
- Meet schedule requirements punctually
- Be warm, sincere, outgoing in personality
- Relate to guests with appropriate sense of humor
- Maturely interact with guests as goodwill ambassador
- Remember guest details (names, faces, important information)
- Provide a persona compatible with established image of restaurant
- Respond to the needs of difficult guests with patience and courtesy
- Stand for long periods of time while on duty
- Move safely throughout all areas of the restaurant
- Work amidst noise in confined crowded space
- Move chairs, transport high chairs and/or booster seats to tables when necessary
- Work nights, weekends and holidays

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
