Essential Functions
The primary role of this position is to provide engineering and technical support to a die casting manufacturing facility.
- Recommend processes and equipment to achieve zero accidents (incidents/unsafe conditions)
- Recommend the right process and product flow to meet the customer needs while optimizing investment
- Recommend equipment with robustness, sustainability/reliability and capable to produce parts within customer specifications
- Define equipment specifications, assist in procurement, layout and rigging/installation of each piece of recommended equipment
- Evaluate and make recommendations to optimize equipment utilization
- Establish process capacity to meet customer expectation
- Achieve on-time delivery of equipment to meet customers’ PPAP requirements as outline in the AIAG APQP process
- Design and recommend equipment, processes and facilities to meet safety standards
- Research emerging technologies for auxiliary equipment for automation and flexibility
- Review part prints and develop cutting tool paths and geometries to ensure tool life is maximized while part quality is maintained to meet or exceed the customer’s quality expectation while assuring the CT is optimized
- Define, develop, and deploy a matching process that yields a product that meets the customer quality expectations while maintaining the cost with in the specified project metrics
- Define, develop and deploy simple automation to minimize manpower utilization while maintaining project budget
- Define, develop and deploy work standards and train the Manufacturing team
- Research lean manufacturing facilities with set of guidelines
- Define and develop product based cells with SMED concept
- Develop Standard Work Combination Table (SWCT) for optimum utilization
- Develop equipment specifications and layout cells while ensuring efficient material flow to maximize return on investment and maintaining efficient manpower utilization
- Based on product demand design cell for best utilization
- Assist with validation of production process with the rigorous use of DFMEA & PFMEA to prevent failures
- Participate in design reviews to facilitate each gate meets QDC targets for new products
- Optimize the process through design/process validation
- Track equipment installation and make corrections as needed
- Define, develop and deploy PC, PFD, PFMEA. Compile capability study data to be in compliance with customer PPAP guidelines
Additional Responsibilities

Education, Experience and Competencies
- Associate degree (diploma) or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master degree preferred)
- 10 yr. experience in HPDC and GPM foundry process and equipment
- High school diploma with 10 years of hands on working knowledge in machining of aluminum
- High volume Automotive parts manufacturing
- Experience in Lean manufacturing
- Knowledge on machinery and equipment (particularly on CNC MA Centers, ROBOTICs, simple assembly machines)
- Working knowledge of GD&T, APQP, DOE, etc.
