Legal Researcher/ YouTube Scriptwriter Job at AtA Productions
We are looking for a legal writer/researcher to help produce one of the most popular and quickly growing YouTube channels in the legal niche. This is a reliable, part-time, fully-remote position that offers an extremely flexible schedule, annual bonuses, and plenty of opportunity for upward mobility.
The position will involve researching legal issues involved in police-citizen interactions, including civil rights, constitutional and criminal law, police protocol, and other legal and non-legal topics as necessary. The candidate will be responsible for researching and writing one to two scripts per week in collaboration with a small but growing team. Each script is approximately 2400 words and includes three different topics that will be researched and applied to any given encounter.
Candidates are free to dictate their own schedule so long as the work is completed within the given time frame. We want you to work on the schedule and in the environment that best suits your abilities, but also be available if an emergency change is needed.
Responsibilities:
- Research identified legal issues and write a script applying them to a specific police interaction
- Locate cases, statutes, policies, and other public information
- Identify factual information such as names, dates, events, etc.
- Perform revisions as requested and respond to feedback
- Develop a consistent and organized workflow
- Maintain a reliable and timely line of communication
We are seeking a candidate who can work independently and can commit to a long-term contract.
Requirements:
- Must have JD, paralegal certification, or other equivalent combination of education and experience; JD strongly preferred
- Must have strong legal research skills, including the ability to accurately interpret and apply case and statutory law to real-life scenarios
- Must be able to summarize and explain complex legal issues in everyday language
- Must be open to feedback and able to adapt your writing style to fit the channel’s tone
- Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines without any micromanagement
Preferred Experience:
- Writing legal blogs, articles, or other legal content directed at a non-attorney audience
- Researching constitutional or criminal law from an unbiased/ non-partisan perspective
- Litigating cases involving criminal or constitutional law
- Working as a paralegal with an emphasis on criminal or constitutional law
- Implementing digital legal research tools and navigating databases
This position will require a long-term contract that includes an NDA. Final round candidates will be asked to complete a paid test assignment as part of the assessment process. The selected candidate will enter into a paid ten-week training program that must be completed before being offered a full-time position with a negotiable salary. Video interviews will be required.
