Job Summary: Job incumbent coordinates and collaborates with family service systems and resource providers to promote meaningful relationships of support and empowerment with family and community members. Incumbent will oversee the development of the peer support network and linking youth with SEDs and their families with peer supports. This position will work with youth and families to engage them in the System of Care process, and link families with culturally and linguistically appropriate support services.

Representative Duties: Under the general supervision of the, Program Coordinator Yukon Koyukuk Behavioral Health job incumbent will:
1. Participate in the Yukon Koyukuk System of Care Subcommittee as well as work closely with all program staff to support effective decision making and program development.
2. Coordinate and collaborate with family service systems and resource providers to promote meaningful relationships of support and empowerment with family and community members.
3. Develop collaborative relationships with family service providers and agencies to support family and community service provision.
4. Establish collaborative procedures with site staff to carry out family support services that assist families in determining priorities and reaching identified goals through supportive relationships based on resiliency.
5. Develop procedures and assists staff in making referrals for services and follow-up.
6. Collaborate with staff, parents and community members to develop promote and implement parent involvement and participation in program activities.
7. Assist staff and parents in implementing a promotional volunteer program that includes volunteer training sessions, and documentation of activities and in-kind services.
8. Assist staff and parents in advocacy efforts to improve services in local communities.
9. Develop and maintains parent orientation materials and provides parent orientations during site visits.
10. Act as the lead in developing and distributing quarterly parent newsletters.
11. Work in partnership with the SOC awardee staff on all levels of project implementation.
12. Provide staff training programs.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Associates Degree in Social Work, Psychology or human services related field.
2. Two years experience in family services or human services field with experience working with developmentally appropriate program for children ages birth to five years.
3. Physical exam and negative TB clearance upon hire and every three years thereafter. DTaP and Hepatitis B vaccinations highly recommended.
4. Must obtain DEC Food Worker's Card within 30 days of hire.
5. Must complete Bloodborne Pathogen training immediately upon hire and annually thereafter.
6. Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire and bi-annually thereafter.
7. Experience as a parent or other family member of a child or adolescent with a serious emotional disturbance, who has received or is currently receiving services from the mental health service system.
8. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
9. Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
2. Knowledge of or ability to learn federal and state laws and regulations. Must be able to travel extensively.
3. Computer experience using Microsoft applications.
4. Demonstrated ability to facilitate professional development training.
5. Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native populations.Supervision: No supervision duties required
