Locust Cider is a vibrant, local hard cider taproom and cider brand that takes pride in offering unique and delicious ciders and food pairings. We are currently seeking an experienced, talented, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to join our team, lead our small kitchen staff, and drive the development of our cider-focused menu.

As the Kitchen Manager, you will not only be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our small kitchen but also play an active role in preparing and cooking dishes. With a team of just 2 to 3 people, including yourself, we are looking for a dynamic leader who is eager to roll up their sleeves and contribute directly to our culinary success.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Hands-on cooking: Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes that pair well with our hard cider offerings. You will be actively involved in all aspects of food preparation and presentation.

Menu development: Work closely with the management team to create and continually update a small, innovative menu that showcases your culinary creativity and pairs seamlessly with our hard cider selection.

Inventory and food cost management: Ensure efficient and cost-effective inventory management, maintaining a lean food inventory and minimizing waste. Regularly review and analyze food costs to optimize profitability.

Kitchen staff management: Supervise a small team of 1 to 3 kitchen staff.

Health and safety compliance: Oversee and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in the kitchen. Adhere to all local and state food safety regulations. ServSafe certified

Quality control: Monitor and maintain consistent food quality and presentation, ensuring that all dishes meet the highest standards.

Qualities and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in a kitchen leadership role, preferably in a small or similar-sized kitchen.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute innovative, high-quality menus that pair well with beverages, ideally hard cider.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, food cost control, and budgeting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a small team.
  • Familiarity with local and state food safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. Comfortable working in a small growing company
  • Responsible around alcohol
