POSITION: Injection Molding Processor

DEPARTMENT: Mold Shop

FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for the development of processes for producing quality molded parts within the quoted cycle time. This responsibility includes, but not limited to, the leading, directing and training of Mold Setters, the development and maintenance of mold specific processes for mold setting/processing, and the development and maintenance of proper mold setting/process documentation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Effective communication, both verbal and written, with fellow employees regarding quality, cost, delivery, and safety.

2. Proper use of KRONOS timekeeping system.

3. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, recognizing hazards and taking appropriate corrective action.

4. Utilize lockout / tagout procedures as required.

5. Understand and follow all safety and accident prevention guidelines as outlined in the employee handbook.

6. Understand and follow all policies and procedures in the employee handbook.

7. Other duties as assigned.

8. Lead by example.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist with mold changes, color changes and material changes when needed and directed by the supervisor.

2. Perform basic maintenance function as needed.

3. Train mold setters in the responsibilities of their position.

4. Establish mold specific processes for each mold within their allotted cycle time.

5. Maintain departmental equipment.

6. Verify, validate and report scrap.

7. Verify machines processes daily.

8. Maintain effective utilization of mold setter’s time.

9. Operate a forklift safely and correctly.

10. Able to perform all the functions of a mold setter/processor

11. Interact w/maintenance engineer, lead person, mold press operator, tool shop, quality department, injection mold manager and maintenance technician.

12. Diagnose and repair minor maintenance problems on molding machine and auxiliary equipment.

13. Diagnose major maintenance problems, complete/process work order on problems and interface with maintenance department concerning problem.

14. Ability to read blueprint and conduct necessary inspections and measurement to ensure the quality of the parts being produced.

15. Assist with DOE.

16. Develop and instill a teamwork attitude and culture.

17. Utilize and effectively use department terminology.

18. Other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Injection Molding Manager, Maintenance Engineer, and Plant Manager.

REQUIRED TOOLS: Safety glasses, and other tools as required.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Work is conducted in a production environment. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and stand or sit for long periods of time. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to twelve (12) feet above floor level. Must use extreme caution when pulling and setting molds, due to high pressure on hydraulics and electrical mechanisms.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Education. High school diploma or GED.

Experience. Six (6) months as a mold press operator.

Skills. Excellent reading, comprehension, communication, and basic math skills. Forklift certified operator.

Behavioral Characteristics. Must be self-directed and take the initiative for constant improvement in quality and performance. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with all other employees. Acquire, evaluate, use, and communicate information. Must be able to deal with change, ask questions to clarify information, be a team player, and take appropriate corrective action.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
