This position will perform/administer Trade Compliance activities for the Texas businesses units of Teledyne Marine, including Teledyne Geophysical Instruments (Houston) and Teledyne Cable Solutions (Dallas). This position can be based at either of these locations.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Summary

This position requires the development, implementation and management of the trade compliance functions as it relates to imports/exports across the organization. The role demands exceptional communication and collaboration skills, and a strong export trade expertise. The Import/Export Administrator will support the Houston and Dallas Teledyne Marine locations in managing imports/exports, interacting with all of the various functional areas, and Teledyne’s Corporate International Trade Compliance office. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Determines critical methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for ensuring effective trade compliance at the business units falling under their business unit, in accordance with U.S. and international import/export laws and regulations and Teledyne Technologies corporate import/export compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and support appropriate management accountability and responsibility for import/export compliance.
  • Establish and maintain trade compliance procedures and program documentation, including product classification and regulatory jurisdiction; licensing and administration; denied party, proliferation and diversion screening; technology transfers; deemed exports; export documentation; anti-boycott reporting; recordkeeping; audits and training.
  • Prepare and submit license applications, international permits, technical assistance agreements and other request for licenses and approvals to the appropriate Government Agencies; administer export licensing program and ensure compliance with conditions and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct licensing reviews for technology transfers, including marketing materials, proposals and engineering data; develop and maintain technology transfer programs in accordance with regulatory and license requirements.
  • Act as export compliance liaison to sales representatives, distributors, customers and other third parties, as required.
  • Conduct regular export compliance training for senior management, engineers, scientists, shipping, sales and marketing and other functions involved in exporting hardware and/or technology.
  • Conduct periodic audits and self-audits and implement corrective action, as required.
  • Assist Corporate Legal- International Trade Compliance Office with investigations of any incidences of purported non-compliance with export laws and regulations.
  • Attend the Corporate International Trade Compliance annual conference
  • Attend external third-party import and export training seminars as required
  • Other trade compliance duties as assigned
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

Other Essential Duties

  • Make determinations of trade data such as: HTS, ECCN, Country of Origin, trade preference program qualification, product codes, import/export documentation requirements and valuation of products;
  • Work with internal and external customers/vendors, freight forwarders/customs brokers, government agencies and other functional areas to ensure compliance of imports and exports;
  • Interface directly with the State Department, the Commerce Department, Customs and Border Protection and other U.S government agencies, as directed by the Teledyne Technologies Corporate Trade Compliance Team;
  • May assist in due diligence review and integration of acquisitions;
  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 5+ years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications

U.S. Person for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $56,000.00 - $126,000.00 per year
