Dicalite’s operating footprint includes 16 facilities across North America and Europe. Operating through a fully integrated network of five mines and twelve refining, processing, and packaging facilities, the company has a unique multi-mineral platform that includes perlite, vermiculite, and diatomaceous earth. Dicalite’s core business is selling wholesale products to blue chip customers such as Home Depot, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Cargill, DuPont, Leslie’s Pool Supplies, numerous California wineries, 3M, and Nestle Purina, among others. Broad Function:

The Furnace Operator is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on all mobile equipment. The position requires a candidate who is able to adapt quickly to changes, communicates effectively and keeps operations running in an efficient manner. Additionally, the candidate must be able to operate a forklift. Position is a union position and may require overtime and some weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Must be able to adapt quickly to changes and communicate effectively to all parties to keep operations running efficiently
• Ensures that the plant operates and meets customer demand
• Conduct a variety of tests of materials using various testing tools and methods.
• Assist in the repair and fabrication of process equipment as required.
• Be willing to work overtime as needed (including some weekends and call-ins during night)
• Assist in keeping the shop and production facility organized and free of hazards
• Support minor maintenance activities within the plant
• Conduct workplace inspections focusing on any potential safety hazards. Ensure housekeeping standards are met and all areas are maintained in a clean and professional manner
• Maintain high level communication with Plant Manager to ensure efficiency and meeting all plant goals

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
• Must possess basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment
• Ability to work with limited supervision and achieve results
• Must be detail oriented; possess superb follow up skills
• Must have ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Must be able to pass a drug test
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
• Must possess basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment
• Ability to work with limited supervision and achieve results
• Must be detail oriented; possess superb follow up skills

• Fork truck experience a plus
• Welding and cutting experience a plus
• Fabrication skills or machinist experience a plus.

Working Conditions:

• Work performed in manufacturing and processing site.
• Moderate to loud noise levels
• Standing for long periods on concrete or other hard surfaces; walking over rough and uneven terrain
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting and climbing
• Frequent use of ladders and steps for accessing equipment
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
• Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, manipulating tools/objects, and written/typing.
• Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions
• Frequent exposure to substances, including but not limited to: industrial chemicals, hydraulic fluid, grease, oil and dirt.
