ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Must have Medical Office experience.
  • Answer telephones, schedule appointments and greet and direct patients, sales reps and visitors.
  • Check front desk email messages, reply and accept documents accordingly.
  • Direct phone calls to appropriate staff members. Take messages from physician and other personnel.
  • Assist Medical Assistants with following up on patient phone calls and messages.
  • Mail new patient and Dexa packets prior to appointment on a daily basis.
  • Alert infusion authorizations when infusion patients reschedule appointments or make a new appointment within a two week window. Alert referrals person when adding on Dexa.
  • Confirm patient appointments, reminding patients to have referral in place if insurance requires one.
  • Instruct new patients in completion of medical history and information forms.
  • Collect co-pays, past due balances and other payments.
  • Maintain Daily Log Sheet, and balance cash, check and credit card receipts at the end of each day. Post all payments collected at front desk.
  • Check patients in at the front desk, scan insurance cards and IDs, and enter patient’s insurance information into the computer.
  • Maintain physician schedules, making sure that patients are scheduled at appropriate times, rescheduling patients when necessary.
  • May back up the medical records department as needed.
  • Handle calls for the physicians from other referring physicians.
  • Assist patients who require a pick-up of drug samples and prescription medications.
  • Clean and maintain patient waiting areas.
  • Assist patients with wheelchair when needed. Call cabs, access-a-ride or other transport services for patients.
  • Maintain and update referring physician contact information in the Centricity EMR system.
  • Obtain previous records from referring physician for new patients and distribute to physicians prior to appointment.
  • Assist medical records department as needed.
  • Provide map of location and driving directions to patients, vendors and other customers.
  • Assist pharmaceutical representatives with obtaining physician signature for sample medications.
  • Print next day schedules and distribute to appropriate physicians, MAs and departments.
  • Assist patient with the patient portal .

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
