Food Service Cook
Part-time, hourly position
Up to 15 hours per week
Hourly rate based upon verifiable work experience
Objective:
To prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals for our Meals on Wheels Greer ministry while maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals following direction of Kitchen Manager.
- Prepare food according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures to meet nutritional and quality standards.
- Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to required standards
- Inspect food items and/or supplies to verify quantity, quality and specifications of orders and compliance with required health standards.
- Assist in keeping food and supply inventory.
- Receive food items and/or supplies and places them in designated areas in appropriate storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:

- Skilled in preparation of quality food in quantity.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in food service is preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work with others, especially working with diverse individuals in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate well, especially in giving and receiving instructions and information related to kitchen operations.
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks concurrently and to work through changes and interruptions.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 40lbs for 20% of work time, carrying, pushing, squatting, lifting and/or pulling.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Formal food service training preferred
Job Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Kitchen Manager.
- Regularly interacts with staff, volunteers, clients, visitors, donors, and Board Members.
