Brookhaven Market is a chain of family owned customer focused grocery stores. We strive to bring our customers food from around the world!
We are looking for a hard-working prep cook to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks. The prep cook must be able to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, and be able to follow instructions while working in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Setting up and sanitizing workstations
- Following prep lists
- Measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in the cooking process
- Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads
- Supervising food and cooling temperatures
- Ensuring all food items are properly stored
- Assisting chefs in preparing foods and attending to any culinary tasks as they arise
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen
REQUIRED:
- Must have a general knowledge of food preparation and techniques
- Experience as a prep cook may be advantageous
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures and guidelines
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, repeated bending, squatting, twisting and stretching, repeatedly lifting up to 50 lbs
- Work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigeration, freezer, and hot food preparation)
- Proper handling of cutting equipment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
