Position: Family Services Project Coordinator

Program/Location: Davenport Resource Service Center (DRSC): 150 Church St., Davenport, CA 95017

Status: Full-Time Temporary Until August 31st

Hours per week: 35-40 hours per week, may include occasional evenings or weekends

Salary Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Benefits: 13 paid holidays prorated per year and sick leave according to CA law

Overview: The Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc. (CAB) has been the County’s designated Community Action Agency since 1965, with the mission to eliminate poverty and create social change through advocacy and essential services. CAB does so through the 4 program pillars of community building, employment, immigration and homelessness prevention and intervention services that serve over 10,000 people per year, with a staff of over 50 employees. The Davenport Resource Service Center is CAB’s oldest continuously operating program and has been providing intervention and prevention services to the rural north coast community since 1977.

General Duties: The Family Services Project Coordinator will work with DRSC’s Program Director and Program Coordinator to strengthen and expand DRSC’s family services department which includes COVID-19 outreach and education, food services, case management, and other grant-funded initiatives dedicated to supporting family wellness in the north coast.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the monitoring of client needs; will work with Program Director and Program Coordinator to develop new responsive services to meet emergent client needs.

· Responsible for maintaining a detailed record of program data including client information, program purchases, donations, and submitting periodic program update reports;

· Attend meetings and trainings relevant to job duties, including meetings with partner organizations to promote DRSC’s family services;

· Responsible for maintenance of computer and hard copy participant files including case notes, family service plan documentation, data entry, correspondence, and goals/progress tracking and reporting.

· Prepare for and participate in monthly or as needed team and state OCAP related meetings and trainings.

· Coordinate community volunteers to ensure adequate supervision/transportation of all youth program activities.

· Participate in fundraising and assist in researching, writing, and applying for funding grants and opportunities.

· Assume other administrative responsibilities as assigned.

· Responsible for overseeing DRSC’s COVID-19 support services program, which include outreach, recruitment, and building relationships with farmworkers and families who reside at North Coast/Davenport area farms/ranches, to ensure their access to COVID-19 vaccinations, PPE, information, health services, and other health resources.

· Responsible for coordinating DRSC’s after school tutoring program, including volunteer and student recruitment, communications with the local school, teachers, and parents, administering surveys, and preparing related reports;

· Responsible for overseeing DRSC’s year-round family services to ensure that outcomes are met, including implementation of the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets for Youth framework and other evidence-based practices to support improved physical and mental health for youth and families.

· Responsible for coordinating DRSC’s Economic Empowerment Program and related services including: case management services and supporting the creation of Family Service plans that identify clients’ goals, tools, timelines, and strategies for success as well as well as information and referral to resources;

· Responsible for maintaining excellent relations with the local community including families, school, businesses, and churches and with area foremen and ranch owners as needed in terms of outreach and partnership meetings.

· Provide strong, respectful, and culturally competent customer service skills including answering phones and in person contact; maintain records and files as needed and address participant needs.

· Provide client assistance, including forms translation, advocacy, referrals, and emergency transportation as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bilingual/biliterate (able to speak, read and write English/Spanish) required.

· Ability to work some evening and weekend hours required.

· Must possess a Class C Driver’s License at hire, or within 60 days of hire.

· Must have current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate or conditional to acquire certification within 60 days of hire.

· Safe driving record, current California driver’s license, vehicle insurance and ability to transport oneself to worksites.

· BA degree in social services or related field and/or equivalent work experience.

· Minimum two years’ experience in administrative duties and two years of case management experience, preferred.

· Strong understanding of culturally competent services.

· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, etc.). Ability to document and report on client goals and progress.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work well with diverse cultures, age groups, and interests. Ability to work as part of a team.

· Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience working with farmworkers, day workers and/or low-income persons strongly preferred.

· Knowledge and familiarity with the Santa Cruz County network of health, social service and related agencies as well as geography.
