    School Description:
    The successful candidate could be asked to teach a variety of levels from 8th grade to 12th grade. Preference given to candidates with Yearbook and Journalism experience.

    Brief Job Duties:
    The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

    1. Provides learning opportunities in one or more of the following areas: reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and citizenship to students using the curriculum adopted by the District.
    • Knowledge of photography, graphic design and Photoshop preferred.
    • Experience creating a school yearbook, including managing finances and strict deadlines, preferred.
    • Expertise in both writing and reading instruction required.
    • Exceptional organizational and communication skills required.
    • Intimate understanding of national and state standards in English required.
    2. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction.
    3. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and relationship building.
    4. Regularly assesses each student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and prepares progress reports.
    5. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’s progress as it relates to curriculum.
    6. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to help students assess and benefit from the district curriculum.
    7. Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.

    Full Job Description

    Certification/License:
    Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education certification (100)
    Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education

    Education:
    Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
    Masters Degree in related area preferred.

    Experience:
    Successful prior teaching experience for grades 8-12 is preferred but not required.
    Experience with yearbook and journalism preferred.
