Description
Brookfield Renewable is looking for an individual with interests in wholesale energy markets who will be responsible for various functions associated with scheduling physical energy flows and flow optimization across U.S. energy markets. The candidate would join the Brookfield Renewable U.S. team as a first-year analyst.
The individual will also participate in portfolio and trading analysis/reporting, with responsibility for developing and maintaining tools related to both energy market scheduling and position management.
The Energy Trading Scheduler will be part of the commercial team, working under the supervision of the Director of Trading for PJM Mid-America and will support various wholesale and retail energy functions across the business.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and validate physical energy schedules by taking into consideration market fundamentals and transmission related constraints
- Submit and validate market schedules for all energy related products
- Coordinate and schedule all physical power, ancillary services, capacity, physical transmission with ISOs, trading counterparts and balancing authorities
- Assist in and lead (when assigned) the development of various energy market tools; these include, portfolio optimization models, and wholesale power scheduling applications
- Assist trading team with energy optimization strategies and daily analysis related to market fundamentals, trading and hedging across Brookfield’s renewable energy portfolio
- Develop and maintain existing Tableau and Python based tools to analyze and track trading data and forward positions, forward pricing, basis and volatility curves and profit and loss analysis and reporting
- Develop expertise in Brookfield’s ETRM system, acting as a subject matter expert for the commercial team
- Respond to internal requests from other functional areas for data, analysis and commercial due diligence

- Able to meet multiple objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment

- Well-organized and ability to synthesize and conceptualize complex ideas
- Comfortable working with large data sets
- Strong team player with solid analytical skills and strong attention to detail

Required Skills and/or Experience
- Bachelor`s degree computer science, information technology, economics, engineering, mathematics or other related discipline
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages; Python, Java, are preferred
