They not only keep the drivers moving, but work to build personal relationships with our drivers to keep the family atmosphere of our company strong.

Our Driver Advocates will meet the needs of assigned drivers relating to but not limited to safety, mental and physical well-being, family responsibilities, cost management, productivity, company image, and customer satisfaction. Most important we need these duties to be performed in a way that promotes safe practices in accordance with Leonard’s Express, Inc. established safety programs and standards. Full Job Details

The Driver Advocate plays a role in the ongoing functions of the Company. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Monitors trucks to ensure they are on time for deliveries; as well as keeping external customers, planning group, and customer service group informed of delivery or pick-up status
• Regularly communicates with planners to keep trucks planned in advance
• Handles service calls from drivers and promote operational safety
• Monitors driver compliance responsibilities
• Provides on-going driver training on the topic of safety, compliance, and how to utilize company software
• Acts in a proactive manner for preventative training
• Educates drivers on hours of service to maximize their earning potential
• Reviews and consults with drivers and additional personnel on incidents, accidents, and claims
• Supports driver retention efforts by providing drivers with prompt and courteous customer service
• Schedules performance reviews to touch on job satisfaction in an effort reduce costs associated with turnover
• Aids drivers to be home for family obligations and special occasions
• Monitors all OMNITRACS messaging from drivers, generates TMW updates and contacts appropriate personnel when needed
• Highlights to drivers they are the face of Leonard’s to create a strong professional image with both themselves and the cleanliness/maintenance of our equipment
• Provides open communication/dialogue with drivers to discuss route miles, routing, fuel, tolls, accident/ incident damage
• Issues EFS (money codes) for various payments and relays information to the appropriate department for invoicing
• Ensures TMW is kept up-to-date regarding the status of company trucks, and set up carriers in TMW

Requirements

Based on the essential and other duties and responsibilities of the position, the Driver Advocate should have a number of professional skills and abilities:

• Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team member
• The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlines
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments

Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Driver Advocate is required to have:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Previous experience as a broker preferred
• Experience with systems such as TMW, TMT, other transportation management systems and Microsoft Office products

The Driver Advocate is primarily located in a climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise level, but may experience other physical environments while traveling. Physical requirements include:

• Using computer hardware and software for extended periods of time (repetitive motion)
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
